Stunts

Magicians are'nt always just about doing tricks, they also like to put their body to the limit to show the world what humans can do. The first stunt magician who was real popular was Harry Houdini who captivated what stunts where all about. He would perform stunts like being chained or handcuffed while hanging off a bridge and trying to escape before the rope holding him broke. Houdini's stunts would be the motivation for future magicians like David Blaine and Criss Angel. Stunts also come in a variety of different performances. Down below you can learn about all the stunts in magic.

EXAMPLES

Isolations - The ice cube is one of the most common of the stunts performed by magicians because it can easily be faked. Sometimes they have a hidden door in the ice cube so they can trade with someone else while they rest in a hidden room. David Blaine was one of the first who actually performed this stunt without cheating. Blaine stayed in the ice cube for three whole days and when he came out he suffered from many bad effects. Isolation stunts can also consist of staying in a coffin, box, ect.

Chains - Many times magicians will chain themselves up and try to escape before something happens. What happens can range from drowning to being cut into a million pieces. The chians are usually numerous and everywhere on the magicians body but due to the magicians abilities he usually escapes. The places the magicians are chained can be inside of big fish bowls like Daid Blaine or hung off buildings like Houdini.

Endurance - Endurance stunts are probably the hardest because the stunt performer tries to do something difficult for a long time. Many times the magicain even fails this stunt due to how hard it really is. Everyone remembers how David Blaine failed on holding his breath for 9 minutes and that proves how crazy some endurance stunts can be.

Trickery - These are the stunts that should'nt really be called stunts because the magician really tricks the audience with an illusion. Everyone knows the cutting someone in half trick. It's actually just a simple trick where the person being cut in half is two people; one who shows their face and the other who shows the legs. Other trickery stunts would be being placed in a keg and then letting it fall a 100 ft from the ground to break into a million pieces, but somehow the magicain ends up just fine. Trikery stunts are actually very well planned illusions that still aww the audience.
